g & Member Dinner Highlights • AAFP President, Dr. John Meigs Jr. attended the UAFP Annual Meeting and presented on national Academy updates such as involvement with the new adminis- tration, payment reform, Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC), and many other impor- tant issues. He also shared his love for Alabama Crim- son Tide football, Roll Tide! • Dr. Dan Chappell provided an updated financial re- port, concluding that the Academy is in good fiscal health. • Dr. Kyle Jones presented the legislative update, dis- cussing the issues affecting family medicine in the re- cent general legislative session. ( More info on page 2 7 ) • Senator Brian Shiozawa, MD was awarded the 2017 Utah Family Medicine Advocate of the Year award. Congratulations Dr. Shiozawa! • Dr. Kyle Jones and Dr. Amy Geroso were conferred as Fellows of the AAFP. • The following new elected officers were sworn in: o John Berneike, MD- President o Nicole Clark, MD, FAAFP- President-elect o Vanessa Galli, MD- At-Large Board Member o Kirsten Stoesser, MD, FAAFP- At-Large Board Member • Our 2017 Utah Family Medicine Physician of the Year was awarded to Dr. Greg Gochnour. Dr. Gochnour’s wife, Caitlin, and his family attended the meeting and accepted the award on his behalf. • The HealthInsight Resident Quality Improvement Poster Award was presented to Victoria Prince, MD, PhD for her presentation and research on HCV screening and treatment. • Our raffle winner for the $500 Snowbird gift card was Dr. Mark Greenwood. All proceeds were donated to the UAFP Foundation. 9 |
